ANTIFUNGAL AND ANTIOXIDANT POTENTIAL OF ETHANOLIC AND AQUEOUS EXTRACTS OF THE WILD PLANT CONSUELA (<i>Tinantia erecta</i>)

Wild edible plant species can be a good source of biologically active compounds. Therefore, the aims this research were to evaluate antioxidant activity and quantify phenolic compounds present in ethanolic (70% v/v) aqueous extracts Tinantia erecta, their antifungal against phytopathogenic fungi. The total phenol flavonoid content vitro assessed, quantified by HPLC. (250 μg mL–1) from T. erecta tested for Fusarium oxysporum, Phytophthora capsici, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Sclerotium rolfsii, Rhizoctonia solani. organ with highest concentration was leaf, most efficient solvent extraction these 70% ethanol. found high concentrations phloridzin (97.5 mg g–1), naringenin (19.3 rutin (14.8 g–1). extract obtained leaves ethanol inhibited mycelial growth 84 100%, F. oxysporum being least sensitive R. solani effect extract. maximum percentage inhibition 15.6% P. capsici. Extracts endemic exhibited activity, primarily due presence compounds, showed great potential inhibit microorganisms.
